Ranjit Singh Preet, a Punjabi writer, was born in village Kesar Singh Wala (10th oct.1950) District. Bathinda , Punjab,(India). He writes Punjabi songs, stories and articles related to Punjabi Culture; Sports and Bal Sahit(Children's literature).
In 1982, his first book (novel) �KACHIAN KAILAN� was released. His first story �Katha Da Bhog� was published in �HANI� magazine in 1969. His articles, songs, and stories are published in Punjabi periodicals on an almost daily basis .He is MA.(Pbi.,Hist.,Reli.,) Med.,& Retd.Gazetted Officer.
FAMILY LIFE
Ranjit Singh Preet is handicapped from childhood. Despite his physical limitations, he turned to writing in 1969. His first story �Katha Da Bhog� was published in �Hani� magazine in 1969. The Story was very appreciated by readers and provided him source of energy to carry on and to excel in this field. He got married to Binderjit Kaur Preet on 27 June 1974 who was a motivator and supporter to him. They got two sons who are settled in Punjab. Ranjit Singh Preet suffered personal tragedy when his wife passed away on 5 June 2010. After a brief absence following his wife death, he has begun to write again. In this course, his two Qualified sons C.S.Preet,K.S.Preet ,daughter-in-law M.K.Preet, and grandchild D.S.Preet provided much need support.
WRITINGS
He has published about 2500 articles, stories, songs , articles related to sports & children literature (Bal Sahit)in various newspaper and magazines like "Punjabi Tribune", "Ajit", "Jag Bani", "Spokesman","Akali Patrika", "Aaj Di Awaaj", "Desh Videsh Times", "Nawan Zamana", "Lok Lehar","Sada Desh", "Chardi Kala", "Desh Sewak", "Door Desh" (Toronto). Besides these periodicals, his articles, songs and stories have been published in "Mehram","Ghar Shingar", "Nikian Krumblan", "Punjab Today","Aks", "Hani", "Primary Sikhia", "Pankhrian", "Jan Sahit", "Punjabi Dunian", "Sachittar Qumi Ekta""Punjabi Digest","Skai India","Suaani","Qumantri Pardesi", and "Jagrati".He has written many songs for Telly Film � KANJJKAN DA KATAL� & �SANJEEVNI� and Audio Cassete �GORKH DA TILLA".
His writings have also been published in PUKHEROO (SHAH LIPI, LAHORE)
AWARDS
On 5th sept.1994 he was presented with STATE AWARD by Chief Minister Punjab S.BEANT SINGH , & Education Minister S.LAKHMIR SINGH RANDHAWA. � His story �Gunga Mochi� won prize in the competition held by Bhasha Vibhag Punjab and Awrded by Chief Manister of Punjab MADAM RAJINDER KAUR BHATHAL. � He has specially appreciated and awarded by the then Chief Minister S. HARCHARAN SINGH BRAR in Dhudhike village. � He has been awarded and Honoured by many organizations and with many titles from:- � On 9th Nov.1980 awarded him by Rotary Club Barnala. . � Dashmesh Gyani College Barnala awarded him with a special award. � Pro. Mohan Singh award, � Grewal Sports Club Kila Raipur award, � Bal Sahit Acadmy Parshansa Pattar� � All India Kariana association award, � Uttaranchal Yuwa patrkar prishad Purskar, � Mehram Publications award, � Lok Sewa Society Delhi Parshansa Pattar, � Sahit Sbha Jaitu Sanman Pattar, � Sahit Sabha Bargari Special purskar, etc..
